Technology is evil

Technology is evil - I think that's a well-known fact only few sane individuals will dispute. What might be less self-evident is that this virtuality extends well through all levels of complexity, overruling even the most crude contraptions with equal force. Today, it made me feel its power. I'm sit...

Re: Other Great Freeware Games

And here's a thoroughly adorable, cute Mario clone with typically happy music, lots of smiling faces and, uhm... bit of a clever twist to it:

Submachine now has its own specific site, allowing for easy access to all seven games (with the latest to be released after my last post, I believe):http://www.submachineworld.com/

Re: Davy Jones Lazy

The clinging nature of the Pink Lace umbrella can apparently easily be exploited to literally pulverize all stationary bosses just about on all difficulty settings (except suicide mode) in a jiffy, making quite a handful of boss stages very easy to perfect, let alone complete. But of course, the bal...

So many betas and we miss something like this... |<O

Ah well... but 1.8.1 is also a rather nice version number, now isn't it? ;)

It's symmetrical

Ah, you really thought you could just sneak in here at a convenient moment and pretend that it's absolutely not been almost four years since your last post, hm? Well, not going to work. ;) Welcome back, Mad Murphy, even though we've never really "talked"! :D Impressive umbrella placement indeed, by ...

Gameplay versus presentation

I thought I'd try to kick of a discussion after those eons of funereal silence. ;) When it comes to games, my general mantra is "Be easy on the looks, sounds and overall polish, hard on everything else.". Hence, I can easily enjoy games with extremely simple or plain bad graphics, archaic or awkward...

Re: On a different subject...

Thanks for the GUGS link! Sadly, the only discrete soundcard I own is a Sound Blaster PCI 512, a watered-down version of the original Sound Blaster Live! with omitted Soundfont memory. I managed to load GUGS software-wise though, using SynthFont . This application allows to load and store any desire...

On a different subject...

Having quite a bunch of MIDI files on my harddisk I occasionally like to listen to, I've been sporadically browsing the interwebs for nicely sounding, yet easy to use and fully General Midi/Roland-compliant software synthesizers for quite some time now. Up until recently, I've only found decent qual...

Re: Other Great Freeware Games

I'm currently playing through the massive action-platformer Iji , from Daniel's Base , which is simply superb. :) Thanks for pointing me towards this game, Ryan. I just finished it. Well, what can I say? Probably a ton and some bonus ranting. But let's just say this is a very worthy (albeit unortho...

Re: Prolegomena To Cardinal Arithmetic

@Qabach I originally discovered this nifty mathematical proof in a (german) book on history of math and thought it might be worth posting. It is, after all, a fine example of what happens when you dare to try your luck on establishing a comprehensive proof for something that is widely regarded to be...

A sequel to Trackmania Nations, Trackmania Nations Forever , has been released, featuring improved graphics, built out multiplayer features, a funky 3D mode for the notorious "glasses" with red and blue foil and quite some more nice stuff. As with the predecessor, you can easily configure the game t...

I'm quite surprised no one has listed the Submachine series from Pastel Games yet, which really deserves a mention. It takes all the good things of traditional point & click puzzle games and combines them with rather simplistic but stylish graphics, moody atmospheric sound and an unusual yet very co...

Creative Spam Mail

Most of the (text) spam mails I and most likely not only me receive are about viagra or consist of randomly put together words, scrambled expressions or just random character combinations. One particular one, which I viewed by accident, amazed me because of its rather creative content (below a big a...

Well, Multimedia Fusion is not exactly like Game Maker or Game Factory or what they're all called like. It's probably the most sophisticated GCK you'll find. And seemingly the most expensive, so these "gimboids" will most likely avoid it ;)

There's also a real-time demo available of the first clip where you can move around more or less freely. It requires pretty good video hardware though.

Why do you want to change your IP adress? Is it banned somewhere? Anyway, to view it, open the run dialog ("Ausführen") type "cmd" (without quot marks) and execute "ipconfig". To drop it and generate a new one, type first "ipconfig /release" and afterwards "ipconfig /renew". Warning: If you're conne...
